Samsung Embedded WebServer (EWS) Integration Guide

Deprecation Notice

This method of integrating with Samsung devices is intended for deprecation. Please see the Multiple Display Control (MDC) documentation for the currently used integration method.

This document serves as a comprehensive guide that outlines the steps required to integrate Samsung displays with the NetSpeek platform using Samsung’s EWS (Embedded WebServer) protocol.

Please note that there are two methods of integrating Samsung displays, and different displays have different configurations. This guide describes the Embedded WebServer method which is planned for deprecation – the other method, called MDC (for Multiple Display Control), is described here.

Prerequisites

Before beginning the integration, confirm the following:

Extended Prerequisites: Enable the Embedded WebServer on the Display

  • On your Samsung display, using the remote control, navigate in the on-screen TV user interface to:
Settings > Network > Embedded Server
  • Toggle the Embedded Server setting to ON

This enables remote configuration access via web browser.

Extended Prerequisites: Access the Samsung Display’s Web Interface

On a computer connected to the same LAN as the display, open your browser and navigate to:

https://<device-ip>:4000/

Replace <device-ip> with the actual IP address of your Samsung display, for example: https://192.168.1.25:4000

Note

If this is your first time accessing the web interface, the system will prompt you to create a username and password. Please store these credentials securely — you will need them for API integration with NetSpeek.

Extended Prerequisites: Create Username and Password, or Log In to the Web Interface

  • If visiting for the first time:
    • You’ll be prompted to create a new username and password
  • If you’ve previously set up credentials:
    • Use your existing username and password to log in

Step 1. Add Device to NetSpeek Room Canvas

  1. In the NetSpeek Console, navigate to Room Management
  2. Select the room you wish to add your Samsung Device to
  3. Click Launch Room Canvas
  4. Click Add device to room
  5. Choose your desired device from the manufacturer → device model list.
  6. Configure the appropriate values, and in the “Integrations” section, select a previously created NetSpeek Edge VM integration. Ensure that the Edge VM is on a network that can reach the device’s configured IP address.
  7. In the configuration panel, enter the following fields:
    • Device IP Address (static/reserved IP, or DHCP)
    • Login credentials created in the prior Extended PreRequisites step

Note

Due to deprecation logistics for this integration (in favor of Samsung MDC) there is not currently a mechanism to input Embedded WebServer credentials into the Room Canvas configuration of a Samsung device. Contact your NetSpeek representative to discuss this, if the MDC method is not compatible with your Samsung device.

Verification

Once the relevant settings described above are configured, to validate the integration:

  • Select a Samsung device in the NetSpeek console, open the Device Actions Tab, and select an available device action. It is generally advisable to test by dispatching a non-intrusive command such as a Get Status.
  • On the device, observe the selected action occurring.
